Bassett Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1924 and is currently one of Hampshire's leading tennis centres.

The club always welcomes new members, regardless of their playing ability - at Bassett there is something for everyone, including:

CLUB NEWS

Family Friday 25th May 4-7pm

  •  This is aimed at members with children and will provide an opportunity for parents to join a general mix-in with other parents while keeping the children occupied with games and mini tennis on the other courts.

    Looking for voluteers to help with the bar and the BBQ and clearing up afterwards so as Steve doesn't end up doing this all himself (Please contact Steve Bradford if you are able to help).
    This session is free to members as we will be looking for parents to help supervise the children rather than employ a coach to do this.

New Head Coach at Bassett

  • My name's Andy Brown and i'd like to introduce myself to you all as the clubs new Head Coach. I've been at the club a few weeks now would like to thank those of you i've met for making me feel so welcome. I've listed some areas of the coaching programme that i've already been working in below, along with some plans l have going forwards.     Junior Coaching
     
    I've been running the Saturday morning programme for 3 weeks now with the help of Steve, Aiden and Lydia. The club has invested a substantial amount of money in purchasing some new Mini Tennis kit enabling me to deliver structured Red, Orange and Green lessons as well as delivering the LTA Rally Awards. We've had some good feedback from the children and their parents and hopefully we can continue to grow the programme and get more children playing at Bassett.     Junior Club Night
     
    This session has been very quiet recently and l understand a lot of juniors left because not much tennis was being played. The NEW LOOK Club Night is now running though and will include: fun games, practice matches, ratings matches, coaching tips and a monthly social tournament. Any junior who plays full ball tennis is welcome attend and l urge any junior who has been in the past to come and give the new format a try. Its still FREE and the more we get the better!
     
    Adult Team Tennis
     
    This continues to run every Thursday from 7-9pm and includes FREE technical and tactical coaching as well as matchplay. You must be a member of a team or invited by a team captain to attend this session but if you are and haven't been along yet, come and give it a try. I'm currently running the session across 4 courts with all players mixing in and playing together but have plans to split players into their specific teams as we move towards the summer. This will mean the teaching points can be more standard specific and players can get some match practice with the actual players in their team, hopefully helping them perform well during club matches.
     
    Adult Beginner?Improver Tennis
     
    I'm currently trying to get a group set up for those of you a bit newer to the game and looking to improve. It will be a fun, coaching group with the aim being to improve your tennis so you can play socially with friends and enjoy taking part in other club evenings such as the Tuesday mix-in. If you'd like to join in please email me and i'll keep you informed of times and when this will start.
     
    Private Lessons
     
    I am available for private lessons at the club and if you're interested feel free to email me or give me a ring on 07734805713 to have a chat about what you're looking to achieve. 
     
    Other Coaching Enquiries
     
    I'm always happy to hear from members on the kind of sessions they would like to see at the club. This could be a Cardio Tennis Session or maybe a Social Tournament etc. Feel free to email me or write your suggestion on the sheet next to my advertising board in the clubhouse.

Bassett Annual Golf day, 1st July

  • This year's Bassett Golf day is due to take place on the 1st July.

    Please find booking sheets at the club house.

    The cost this year will be £15

Bassett Tennis Club Championship 2012

  •  The 88th Annual Tournament will be held between June and September

    Members are invited to enter the Clubs Annual Tournament.
    Entry closes at 6pm on Monday 11 June.
    The draw will be on display from Friday 15 June.
     
    Matches are to be played in rounds by arrangement of the competitors between the 15 June and the 6 September with Finals Day being Sunday 9 September.
     
    Entrants must be available to play on Finals Day.
